The Tent Shot - James or Alex?

In the end we decided Alex suited the photo more and also had more resemblance to the illustrations in the lady bird book.
The Shoot
We changed our location from Moor Park to a field on the far side of Avenham after seeing how long and open the fields were there. There are trees surrounding the fields providing alot of privacy and long grass up to your thighs that looked beautiful in the images. Jade and Jess both used different cameras with the same film but the outcome of the sets of images was very different even though it should have technically been identically.
This is an example from Jess's camera:

As you can see the colours are entirely different. We took this into account when deciding our final images as obviously we wanted the same colours to run through all the pages. If we use any from the duller colour film we can adjust the colourings on post production to match the other set.
We needed to choose: The tent image, the camp fire, the picnic and one of them playing around with the rope ladder/tyre swing etc.
Indian Headress
To go with the tent scene we wanted to recreate the main inspiration photo from the Ladybird books:
Jade made our Indian headdress by dying feathers etc, its turned out really well and I'm really pleased with the way its turned out:
We also wanted to recreate the triangular tent so I went in search of one from my parents garage when I went home to Devon for Easter weekend. The triangular tent I found was too modern so I borrowed an old boat cover and a load of wooden poles to try and create our own.
Confirmed Models
Jess and Jade spent weeks messaging modelling agencies and deciding who should be used in our shoot. We all wanted a blonde boy and girl and a brunette boy and girl ideally but had trouble booking them as we were unsure of when the weather would be nice enough to shoot. We ended up with two brunette girls and a blonde guy and a brunette guy.
These are the four we decided on:
