Why have russian dolls appeared all over my life? On my necklace, printed on my suitcase, in my magazines, on my windowsill. I realised the seriousness of my little fascination in September last year when I found myself wanting to buy face paints. My reason for doing so? To transform myself into a life size russian doll, just for funsies. Not the average evening for a nineteen year old, some may say.
For what ever reason they have emerged onto the fashion scene I must say that I fully appreciate them, and I am really quite glad they have been bobbing around for a while. Such odd little things with smiling faces and pink rosy cheeks, I shall be sad when we all find ourselves growing tired of them in the very near future.
The Vogue October 2010 issue was particularly well received by me for this very reason.
As a styling student, the images bellow entice me to no end. And as much as I love vogue, I get bored of the trend pages, of looking a beautiful things that I know I am no where near being able to afford, nor will I be for the next decade of my life. So I look to the magazine for images like these. For styling ideas, and shoot concepts, and for new ways of expressing fashion and art through photography and image making.

What do I love about them?
- The creative poses.
- The specific colour palette for each outfit - using varieties and shades of the same colour.
- The makeup is playful and disturbing. At the same time.
- The hats and headpieces. I really LOVE a good hat.
