After a few weeks of ideas and research I was starting to get panicky about finding a group with similar interests to mine. I got talking to Tara, Jess and Jade who were in a group together and found the idea of the concept they were thinking about really interesting. They had room for another stylist so I joined they're group and starting trying to get a better idea of the concept they had in mind in order to start thinking about where we could take the idea for the photo shoot. They started their concept by looking at educational books, and ladybird books specifically. So I've been catching up and getting a grip on the ideas they've had in order to contribute my own.
The books are about children learning in environments outside of school, where they learn new things from a less structured plan like camping etc. It fits with my interest and ideas of life education and Ryan McGinley's photographs capturing the joy of youth and liberation really well too.
The books illustrations are really nice, using lots of colour and portraying really simple, happy images of children in the 50s and 60s, which inspired us with the ideas of capturing happiness and the joys of learning when its outside of the school room. The colours and poses also gave us ideas about creating photographs inspired by these illustrations.
