After researching Ladybird books in more depth our concept idea became a lot clearer. Each of the books are based on different ideas, like dressing up or baking a cake etc but a lot of the books have a focus of activities outdoors. We liked the prospect of doing our editorial shoot outside on location in a green grassy or wooded area and want to focus more specifically on camping as an activity for our shoot.
Camping is something that my family love to do, so I'm really inspired by the concept we've come up with, using the happiness and playfulness of the ladybird books and the idea of life education. We'll have to be very certain not to style the shoot in a posed way though, the mood we want to create is childish and playful and fun and we need to use models laughing and enjoying themselves in order to keep the idea looking fresh and what we want it to be. This means we'll have to be careful when choosing models, as they'll need to be relaxed and comfortable to be moving around and interacting with each other.
I say models as we all seemed to assume that to create the kind of imagery that we have in mind we will need to use more than one model. Life education is not something you can do on your own and we want to show the interaction between the people in our photographs on the images.
