TEST SHOOT
We planned to do a test shoot to test camera settings and photography styles, as we're using film rather than digital photography for our final imagery to get the authentic and real life feeling that our shoot is focusing on. Tara and I had gathered a few bits a pieces of clothing for the test shoot but the main focus of the shoot was to test the ways the images would look on our chosen location with lighting and colours etc. We used two models for the shoot, to get an idea of how they could interact with each other and try to capture the models naturally rather than posing for a specific shot. Our idea was to observe them and take interesting photographs of whatever it is that they were doing rather than tell them to do something very solid and identified. It also gave us a chance to practice directing and organising, as well as how to make the models feel relaxed and comfortable.
We used two females, Holly Roberts, and Jurgita Nefedjevaite. We didn't mind too much about the look of the models we were using for the test shoot as it was only decided last minute in order to give us a bit more experience with the concept, location etc. The models had never worked together before, and with one of them being only 16 they were a bit awkward at first but we got them joking and laughing around in the end. As the shoot was only decided last minute the clothing we used in the photos is by no means final. It was just something to put the girls in for the time being.
The colours in the photos are really lovely and I think the mixture of still life shots and close ups of the feet etc really adds to our concept, making it different to mainstream fashion imagery.
